Infra-red Heating  Case Studies

Infra-red Medium Wave heaters used for Bentley Motors wiring looms

With medium wave infra-red pre-heaters in place, Bentley Motors can heat the wiring looms to a temperature where they are easily taken out of the boxes and installed into the cars as they pass down the production line.            Bentley Motors Case Study

Infra-red Muffle Heater Helps Alcan International

The novel use of our short-wave infra-red muffle heater has helped Alcan heat fluid within their autoclaves much faster and with greatly improved control of temperature.  This has significantly increased productivity and reduced waiting times.  Alcan Case Study

Infra-red Dryers Help Samsung Shipyard to Increase Productivity

The use of infra-red rapid dryers has greatly improved productivity at Samsung Shipbuilding of South Korea.  They can now dry paint applied to the hulls of ships up to three times faster.  Samsung Case Study

Upgrade of an existing oven

A joint project with the staff of the Technology Demonstration Centre at East Midlands Electricity.  Up-to-date medium-wave panels were designed and built to replace the long-wave emitters in the existing oven. The performance of the oven has been improved by 60% at a very low cost. Upgrading of contraflow oven

Faster Drying and Conditioning of Fabric for Courtaulds (part of Sarah Lee)

Stenters are used extensively in the drying and finishing industry and give many years of good service. By fitting an electric infra-red stenter pre-heater, the working flexibility of the basic stenter is enhanced, the efficiency is greatly improved and increased customer orders can be met.

Exact performance gains depend on the particular fabric but based on recent projects, reductions in drying time of up to 30% can be expected.  Stenter  Pre-heater

Drying components after electroplating.

One of our customers needed a drying plant capable of drying metal products in a wide range of sizes. We designed and built a novel traveling 90kW heater which can handle a row of racks of small components or single large components up to 8m x 2m x 1m.  Drying times have been greatly reduced and productivity increased.

Curing sealant on vehicle panels.

This unit handles panels of various sizes up to 1.6m wide x 3m long, each with a bead of sealant round the edge. The panels are carried through the unit on a conveyor, and sensors linked to a programmable logic controller ensure that heat is applied in the correct places in order to cure the sealant on each panel. The unit replaced a large hot-air oven and takes a fraction of the time.
